Directory Submissions

Submit your product to startup, SaaS, AI, agent, MCP, no-code, and review directories for backlinks, domain rating, and AI citations.

Most directory submissions are vanity — hundreds of low-DR links that move nothing. The right directory layer compounds: high-DR backlinks raise your domain rating, in-market browsers actually convert, and AI engines pull from these directories when answering 'best [category]?' queries — driving traffic that converts 6–27× higher.

Who it's for: founders launching SaaS or AI products, growth marketers building backlink layers, product launch managers, indie hackers

Example

"Plan directory submissions for our AI agent product" → Tier-ranked directory list with submission order, per-directory positioning, tracker spreadsheet, and a follow-up plan to keep listings fresh

What This Does

Builds a compounding backlink and discovery foundation by submitting to the right directories in the right order with the right positioning — covering startup, SaaS, AI, agent, MCP, no-code, and review directories — so the foundation produces leads instead of vanity backlinks.

Quick Start

Step 1: Create a Project Folder

Create a dedicated folder for this workflow (e.g. ~/marketing/directories).

Step 2: Download the Template

Click Download above and save the file as CLAUDE.md in that folder.

Step 3: Run the Workflow

Describe your product, category, and current launch stage.

Inputs You'll Need

  • Product — what it does, category, target market
  • Stage — pre-launch, launching, post-launch, ongoing
  • Existing listings — where you're already listed
  • Goals — backlinks, DR, discovery, AI citation, launch buzz

How It Works

  1. Categorize directories by type (general SaaS, AI/agents, MCP, no-code, review sites, niche)
  2. Score each by DR, traffic, and AI citation likelihood
  3. Sequence submissions (high-effort, high-reward first; quick wins in parallel)
  4. Write per-directory positioning and asset packs
  5. Track submission, approval, and listing freshness
  6. Plan ongoing maintenance (refresh quarterly, monitor reviews)

What You Get

  • Tier-ranked directory list with priority order
  • Per-directory tagline, description, screenshots, and category placement
  • Submission tracker (status, date, approval, link)
  • Follow-up plan for review collection and listing updates
  • Notes on which directories drive AI citations

Tips & Best Practices

  • Foundation, not whole strategy — directories don't replace SEO, content, or paid
  • AI engines pull from high-DR directories — these increasingly drive AI-mediated discovery
  • Refresh listings quarterly — stale screenshots and pricing erode trust
  • Reviews on G2/Capterra compound over time — set up an ongoing collection motion
